The 2024 NBA Draft has a ton of depth and quality talent as there’s more than a handful of players that could be solid role players in the NBA. In every draft, there are mid-major prospects that simply get overlooked due to them now going to a high major school.

Let’s dive into the top mid-major prospects for the 2024 NBA Draft.

Dillon Jones | Weber State

Dillon Jones is the top mid-major prospect in this year’s draft as he’s getting a ton of first-round looks. The 6-foot-6 forward is one of the most unique prospects due to this style of play. He’s a physical forward who plays with a ton of toughness. Despite him just being 6-foot-6 he averages nearly ten rebounds per game and he has been a consistent double-double machine on the season.

This will be his third straight season of averaging a double-double while his assist numbers have consistently improved each season. Jones is a productive forward who can score it inside the arc and play a ton of different roles in the NBA. The next step for the mid-major star is improving his outside jumper as he’s just a 32% 3-point shooter in his college career.

Ajay Mitchell | UCSB

Ajay Mitchell is a 6-foot-5 point guard who has received some first-round attention due to his talent, vision and improved shooting ability. Mitchell made his mark in the NCAA tournament last year despite losing to Baylor in the first round as he dropped 13 points and four assists, but showed a ton of positives while also getting his name out there.

Mitchell has ridiculously good efficiency as he’s shooting 51% from the field, 40% from behind the arc and 84% from the free throw line. The skilled lead guard can create his own offense and for others. He’s a skilled lefty who has improved significantly as an outside shooter. Last year he was shooting 26% from three and now he’s shooting 40% from three which is an incredible improvement.

Adama Bal | Santa Clara

Adama Bal is a junior who’s looking to be the third straight Santa Clara prospect drafted inside the top 20. In the 2022 NBA Draft we had Jalen Williams drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder and in the 2023 NBA Draft we had Brandin Podziemski drafted by the Golden State Warriors. Both of these players have looked extremely productive for their respective teams.

Bal didn't get much playing time in his first two years in college at Arizona but since transferring he has shown off his skills. He’s best as a slasher as he does a great job at finding ways to get to the rim and convert around the basket. Even then, he's not just a slasher, since he also has a respectable jumper and he shoots 36% from behind the arc.
