UConn’s Donovan Clingan, one of the top center prospects in the 2024 NBA Draft class, is set to miss 3-4 weeks with a right foot injury, per a release from the Huskies.

A sophomore standout, Clingan has already dealt with foot injuries in the preseason and UConn’s early season slate.

The traditional 7-foot-2 center has been as advertised this season, averaging 13.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game in just over 20 minutes per contest.

Per Draft Digest’s earlier scouting report on Clingan: “Clingan is extremely efficient and finishes very well through contact. While he has more work to do from a coordination standpoint, he’s learning to leverage his frame to take advantage of smaller defenders in the paint. As the season goes on, it’s fair to expect he becomes more fluid as a player and continues to build out a more smooth game.”

While his injuries haven’t been season-ending, they’ve certainly been season-altering. Clingan was projected expert-wide to be a lottery pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. But inconsistencies due to similar injuries could affect his stock, not just the Huskies season.

Five-star freshman guard Stephon Castle has also missed time for UConn this season.

Currently, the Huskies rank No. 5 in the AP Poll.

Clingan should be back prior to postseason play in March. But he’ll likely have to work his way back to consistent play following another extended period of time off.
