The highly-lauded 2023 NBA Draft came and went, and with it the fireworks of generational top picks, draft-night trades and the ensuing action-packed Summer League in Las Vegas.
Victor Wembanyama was able to showcase his skills in his final performance, the Thompson twins displayed their high-flying athleticism and various other prospects saw stellar performances in front of the Vegas crowds.
Now, all eyes move to the 2024 NBA Draft, which, despite being less lionized than 2023, is sure to have plenty of talent floating around that should bolster NBA teams near the bottom of the standings.
While rankings this far out are almost never accurate, it can be a way to informally get acquainted with those hovering near the top of the draft ranks. Writer Derek Parker took to his YouTube channel to project the top 14 picks of the 2024 NBA Draft:
This year's class is highlighted by a handful of top forwards, two of which are slated to play for the G League Ignite: Ron Holland and Matas Buzelis.
USC's Isaiah Collier and UConn's Stephon Castle highlight the guard class, both of which could have potential claim to being the No. 1 pick.
Duke's Tyrese Proctor and UConn's Donovan Clingan stand out as the top returnees on the year, with the former leading the guards and latter leading all frontcourt prospects.
Other prospects like future Kentucky players Justin Edwards and DJ Wagner, and international prospects Izan Almansa, Thierry Darlan and Alex Sarr, round out the other selections.
