The 76ers' season has not gone the way it wanted it to, but the team could pick up one of the best players in the 2025 NBA Draft class with Baylor's VJ Edgecomb.

The 2025 NBA Draft is loaded with talent, from stars to microwave contributors and everthing in-between. The NBA Draft will be a competitive field this year, with cracking the top-60 being a chore due to the stiff competition.

This gives NBA teams the perfect chance to build out its roster, with cheap controllable talent being a requirement under the new CBA to sustain success. The Philadelphia 76ers have seen this season trend in the wrong direction. From injuries to disappointing play, the 76ers currently sit with a lowly 7-15 record.

In the Eastern Conference especially, there is still time to turn the season around, but as of now, the 76ers are picking at No. 6 in the newest NBA Mock Draft from NBA Draft expert Derek Parker. At this spot, the city of brotherly love will enjoy one of the classes best prospects, Baylor's VJ Edgecomb.

"Edgecomb doesn't identify as a guard or forward and while his pure scoring numbers do not look great at this point in the season, averaging of 5.5 rebounds, three assists and just shy of four stocks per game at his size is intriguing. Should the 76ers stay at No. 6, the team gets an offensively project but a playable offensive rookie who can fill in some gaps positional and provide peremiter defense that the team lacks as of now," Parker said.

The project Philadelphia takes on should be a simple one. Edgecomb has all the tools to be an impactful scorer, with some work needed on his jump shot. The Baylor product should be able to get downhill and finish at will, with his high-end passing potential, allowing you to see his offensive upside.
