The NCAA Tournament is finally here, as post season play at the college level kicks off. There’s countless NBA prospects that will be competing over the next few weeks across the country in attempt to win a championship.

Along the way, there will also be a chance for these players to increase their draft stock on the big stage. Even leading up to this event, the spotlight was shining on prospects in their respective conference tournaments and the close of the regular season.

Whose stock has recently risen? What about fallen?

This week, we look at the draft stock of Zach Edey based on recent play.

Stock: Rising

Season Stats: 22.3 PPG | 12.8 RPG | 2.1 BPG

Edey has rare size at 7-foot-4, but also an interesting set of skills to go with his height. Unlike other college prospects of the past that have been able to dominate the game by just being bigger than everyone, the Purdue center actually has great positional mobility and touch.

He’s been arguably the most dominant player in the county all season, but really started improving draft stock in Big Ten Tournament. Edey led Purdue to a conference championship and produced back-to-back 30-point double-doubles in the final two rounds.

Overall in the conference tournament, he averaged 26 points and 12.7 boards per game while shooting 56.6% from the floor. He also shot better than 80% from the free throw line, which also helps his stock considering he can close games at that rate.

Cerebro Sports has Edey ranked third in C-RAM (12.7) among all Division I college players, along with a 96 ATR, 93 PSP and 89 DSI.

If Edey can help the Boilermakers go on a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, it could further solidify him as a quality second-round pick. Especially if he’s able to go up against other NBA-caliber centers with success and show that he has the ability to dominate regardless of who he is up against, it will be good for his stock.

Either way, Edey’s junior season has been wildly impressive, with the recent conference tournament taking things to the next level.
