The 2023 NBA Draft order is officially set after Friday's lottery. The San Antonio Spurs landed the top overall pick and will presumably select Victor Wembanyama.

Outside of that pairing, which will be a perfect match, there's still a ton of talent that will be available in the lottery following the No. 1 overall pick. With that in mind, fit is everything. For prospects to reach their full potential, landing on the right team is key.

This week, the Draft Digest team gives their favorite fits between prospects and potential teams.

Derek Parker

Operating under the assumption Charlotte simply takes the best available in Scoot Henderson at second overall, the Trail Blazers grabbing Amen Thompson third overall is my favorite potential fit in this draft. At first glance, Brandon Miller appears to be the easy pick here, but the Trail Blazers have been stuck in this limbo between contention and rebuilding for far too long.

Amen Thompson is going to require tons of patience, development and a pretty specific fit. But if Portland is serious about moving into a new era, he'd be a great fit in a hyper-athletic tandem next to Shaedon Sharpe.

There are few teams I trust to actually develop Thompson, but the Trail Blazers actually make that short list. They've done a decent job with the young talent they've had recently, and kicking off their rebuild with him as their lead handler would be perfect timing to give him a few years to get the NBA groove down.

To me, the draft really starts getting interesting with the fifth pick after the consensus top four are off the board. With the Detroit Pistons owning the No. 5 overall pick, they'll have some really good options. With that in mind, I think Cam Whitmore would be the perfect piece to add to that young core and would slide in as the day one starter and the wing of the future in Detroit.

Bryce Simon

Amen Thompson with the Houston Rockets. I have no idea if it will actually work but the thought of the athleticism in a backcourt that has Thompson and Jalen Green is just insane. The thing is, there is a real world where it could work as well with the Rockets giving Thompson the ball and letting him run the show. I know Pistons fans are rightfully crushed but I also think Cam Whitmore would be an ideal fit for their current roster as well.

Isaac Condra

Cason Wallace on the Washington Wizards is a match made in heaven. They lack a true star at the lead guard position and with the Wizards still wanting to be competitive, Wallace will be able to come in and contribute right away. He’s a good shooter, an elite defender, and has solid playmaking chops. He’d fit great next to Bradley Beal.
