Hunter Sallis is the Breakout Prospect of the 2024 NBA Draft
In a world of one-and-done's and prospects being harshly judged for their age and over-drafted for their youth in the mask of inexperience, Hunter Sallis made the right choice to stay in school for three years and transfer to Wake Forest from Gonzaga.
Now, a polished Sallis seems primed to climb up the 2024 NBA Draft boards as one of the most interesting guard prospects in the class. The Demon Deacon is posting a career-high in points (18.3), assists (2.6), rebounds (4.2) and stocks (1.5).
He is doing this on career-best efficiency turning in 49 percent from the floor, 41 percent from beyond the arc and 79 percent at the charity stripe. All in a new bulk role of being featured to the tune of 31 minutes per game.
Sallis is in the 91st percentile in overall offense according to Synergy, dominating in transition, spot-up chances, pick-and-roll, catch-and-shoot looks and finishing at the rim. He has shown an ability to play on and off the ball making him a seamless fit for the next level which continues to evolve into a positionless game.
The Wake Forest guard has really high defensive upside, only allowing his matchups to convert at a 35 percent clip at the rim thanks to the utilization of his 6-foot-5 frame which also allows him to switch all over the floor and gets his teammates out of a jam at times. He understands how to jump over screens and has high-level anticipation skills.
The Omaha, NE product should find himself in the first-round conversation, especially after the NBA Combine. Sallis can create for himself and others on offense and will check any box defensively.
