NBA Draft: Cason Wallace Drastically Bolsters Guard Depth in 2023 Class

Fresh off a successful season for Kentucky, Cason Wallace is reportedly set to enter his name into the 2023 NBA Draft pool.
A projected top-ten selection, we broke down the defensive stalwart in the latest video of the Heat Check series below:
At 6-foot-4 with innate defensive ability and a translatable offensive game, Wallace is already one of the best guards in the class. But he also adds some much-needed stability to a volatile 2023 group.
Outside of projected No. 2 pick Scoot Henderson, there are few sure-fire bets at the guard position, save for Wallace. Amen Thompson, Keyonte George and Nick Smith Jr., while all good players, have had their fare share of up-and-downs in their respective seasons. And while they could end up stars in the league, there's always the flip side to developmental selections.
Wallace, despite not being near as flashy or potentially having the ceiling those players posses, offers a steady and translatable pick for teams looking to instantly bolster their starting lineup. With what was likely the best perimeter defense in college basketball, a mechanically sound shooting stroke and above-average passing chops, Wallace slots in as a perfect modern combo guard.
In five years time, the Wildcat might not be topping the list of guards drafted in 2023, but it would be shocking to see him near the bottom, too.
