Ignite guard Scoot Henderson has been shut down by the G League for the remainder of the season, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

With just five games remaining in the Ignite’s season, and the team unlikely to earn a playoff berth, the league reportedly feels the hyper-athletic Henderson has shown all that he needs to ahead of the 2023 draft.

And it's likely a fair assumption. At 6-foot-2, Henderson has innate speed, burst, athleticism and the scoring instincts to make up one of the best overall point guards prospects we've seen in recent memory. In his first season in the G League at just 17-years-old, he displayed tremendous poise, and has since cemented himself as a top selection for 2023.

In 19 games played in the 2022-23 G League Ignite campaign, Henderson averaged 16.5 points while shooting 43 percent overall and 27 percent from beyond the arc. He also tacked on 5.3 rebounds and 6.5 assists to 3.5 turnovers per game.

Henderson has been adjacently linked to plenty of NBA Draft news lately, with Alabama forward Brandon Miller making a push for the No. 2 draft spot with his strong play in the SEC tournament.

Henderson by most accounts is still the projected No. 2 pick in the upcoming draft, and now front offices will have to make that decision based off the sample he’s given with the Ignite in the past two seasons. Miller and No. 1-seeded Alabama will have one final go of it in the NCAA tournament to raise his stock.
