NBA Draft Roundup: Cam Whitmore, Kris Murray Raise Stock in Wins
Several top NBA Draft prospects played in Tuesday’s college basketball slate.
Tuesday’s slate of college basketball games featured a number of high-level draft prospects looking to raise their stock.
Here were some of the NBA Draft prospect performances from Saturday’s contests:
Kris Murray, Iowa
On a night his brother had a similarly solid game, Kris Murray impressed in a big win over No. 15 Indiana.
Murray shot a usually efficient 9-for-16 from the field and 5-for-8 from three to finish with 26 points. He added seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks, powering the Hawkeyes to a 22-point win.
On the other side, potential 2023 draftee Trayce Jackson-Davis added 26 points of his own to go along with 13 rebounds, five assists, four steals and a block.
Cam Whitmore, Villanova
Whitmore showcased his power and explosion yet again on Tuesday, helping Villanova to a win over Seton Hall.
He scored 19 points, grabbed five boards and added one assist, steal and block apiece.
In order to maximize his skillet, he’ll still need to vastly improve as a passer, but zero turnovers in 30 minutes played while shooting 60 percent from the field, 75 percent from three and 100 percent from the line is certainly promising.
GG Jackson, South Carolina
One of the top stories of the 2023 Draft after reclassifying, GG Jackson has had a tumultuous season.
Despite another Gamecocks loss, Jackson scored 22 points on 5-for-12 shooting. He hit all 11 of his free throws, grabbed eights rebounds and dished two assists.
The season likely hasn’t gone how Jackson had planned, and going back to school will certainly be an option. But games like Tuesday’s that showcase Jackson’s premier shot-creating potential will certainly help his stock as a flyer.
