NBA Draft Roundup: Clingan Shines, Collier Struggles in Afternoon Slate
NBA Draft prospects battled it out Friday afternoon in several top college basketball matchups, continuing to bolster their stock in the eyes of NBA organizations.
Here were some of the top NBA Draft prospect performances in Friday’s afternoon slate:
UConn Huskies Route Manhattan
One of the best true center prospects in the class, Clingan proved it Friday, pouring on 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting and adding four rebounds and a block in the process.
The defending-champion Huskies flew to a 3-point route of the Manhattan Jaspers.
Not to go unsaid, forward Alex Karaban — a potential 2024 draftee — scored 12 points 6-for-9 shooting, adding four rebounds, three blocks and one assist.
Isaiah Collier, USC
Isaiah Collier, USC's point guard who's firmly in the mix for being 2024's No. 1 pick, struggled in a close loss to Oklahoma.
Collier poured on his typical double-digit scoring with 10 points and added four assists. But struggled to stay on the floor late due to turnovers, eventually finishing with six, including a late one that cost the Trojans a critical possession.
On the season, Collier is averaging 19.8 points and 4.0 assists.
Prospects Struggling in Top-20 Matchup
Two potential 2024 draftees, Arkansas forward Trevon Brazile and North Carolina’s Elliot Cadeau, struggled in the two team’s matchup Friday.
Brazile — who’s been good to this point in the season, averaging 11.7 points on 50% shooting — failed to convert a field goal, finishing with no points, but adding two blocks on defense.
Cadeau, a former five-star who reclassified to play for UNC this season, scored 7 points and added three assists, but found himself in foul trouble.
