Stock Risers: Wisconsin's AJ Storr Has Chance to Shine in Sunday's Championship Game
Following a solid season at St. John's his freshman season, AJ Storr took his talents to the Wisconsin Badgers. In his second collegiate season, the 6-foot-7 wing has significantly increased his production year-over-year, but more importantly on the big stage in the Big Ten Tournament.
During the regular season, Storr averaged 16.6 points per contest, showcasing a variety of ways in which he could score the ball. While he was inconsistent from the floor at times, there was no question he was one of the premier scorers in the conference.
This was proven true on Friday night, as Storr scored a career-high 30 points in Wisconsin's quarterfinal win over Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament. He got it done from all three levels, including from beyond the arc as he converted on three of his five attempts from three. During the regular season, Storr was just a 33.1% shooter from deep, so finding success in a big game was a positive sign.
On Sunday, Storr and the Badgers will take on the Illinois Fighting Illini in the Big Ten Championship. If he's able to have a big game — especially while shooting efficiently which has been a struggle at times — it will only further improve his draft stock.
When it comes to talent evaluation by NBA teams, performing in games of significant consequence move the needle. As such, Sunday's championship game is a huge opportunity for Storr.
