With college basketball grinding to a halt in early April, the 2023 NBA Draft’s projected top pick is still making his air-tight case at being just that.

On Sunday, French phenom Victor Wembanyama poured on 24 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, dished out three assists and added four steals and two steals in a victory for Boulogne-Levallois. Even more, he shot 11-for-18 from the field, despite being double-teamed more than not.

It was an undoubtedly impressive performance. But one that blends in solidly to the rest of his lone season with the Metropolitan 92.

Leading the LNB Pro A league in total points and blocks, Wembanayama could’ve shut down his season long ago and still been projected to go first overall in 2023. And for a prospect with injury concerns (ones that don’t necessarily have merit now that he’s closing in on 40 games played this season), it would’ve made sense.

But Wembanyama has been adamant he won’t be shutting it down anytime soon. And as Boulogne-Levallois’ best and most important player, it’s hard to blame him.

"NBA people are telling me to shut him down, and we are not going to shut him down," Bouna Ndiaye told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Jonathan Givony. "If we came with that kind of talk to (Wembanyama), he will look at us and say, 'What are you talking about?' He'll never agree to that. He wants to compete and get better. With Victor, it's basketball first and everything else second. He was so pissed off that he lost."

For now, Wembanyama will continue to hone his skills while those out of the NBA playoffs await their minimal chance at him in the draft lottery, which takes place on Tuesday, May 16.
