NBA action will press on Friday, with the league’s freshest crop of players looking to continue to integrate themselves on their new squads.

Some are looking to build off solid initial debuts, while others are looking to really rev up their play after getting the jitters out.

Here are some of the top rookie matchups to watch for on Friday:

Ausar Thompson Versus Brandon Miller

Forwards Ausar Thompson and Brandon Miller will face off tonight in a battle of two soon-to-be improved Eastern Conference teams.

Both Thompson and Miller had solid debuts, with the former securing five blocks in his first game, and the latter pouring on 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting in a big first win.

The Hornets and Pistons tip off at 6 p.m. CT.

Victor Wembanyama Versus the Rockets

After a slightly lackluster NBA debut (minus a strong fourth quarter) French phenom Victor Wembanyama will look to test his luck against the Houston Rockets on Friday.

The Rockets as a whole got off to a poor start, suffering a 20-plus point loss to the Magic in their opener. And even worse, their rookies — Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore — didn’t look the part early.

Still, both teams have plenty of talent, and could easily gain their footing on Friday night.

Houston and San Antonio tip off at 7 p.m. CT.

The OKC Thunder Trio

Oklahoma City is rolling out three rookies this year in Chet Holmgren, Cason Wallace and former 2014 draft-and-stash Vasilije Micic, all three of which saw drastically different outcomes in the team’s opener.

Wallace was the star, shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the field. Holmgren was productive overall, but struggled to hold his own defensively, something that shouldn’t happen often. And Micic didn’t see any action in what was likely a pre-planned move.

The Thunder will be interesting to tune in to from a rookie perspective all season, but especially tonight against the loaded Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. CT.
