NBA Summer League: Victor Wembanyama’s Postgame Media Availability

Spurs center and top 2023 draftee Victor Wembanyama’s postgame comments after his Summer League debut.

It likely wasn’t the debut he or many others had hoped for, but French phenom Victor Wembanyama still managed to be impactful in his Spurs Summer League debut.

The shot wasn’t falling and the offense wasn’t grooving — that much was evident via his efficiency: two-for-13 overall and just one-for-six from beyond the arc. But 2023’s top draftee still managed to make a difference on the defensive end of the court. He finished with eight rebounds and a whopping five blocks, helping San Antonio to a 76-68 win over Brandon Miller and the Hornets.

Here was Victor Wembanyama’s comments after his 2023 NBA Summer League debut:

The Spurs next take on the Portland Trail Blazers at 7 p.m. CT on Sunday, July 9. Wembanyama's status is currently up in the air due to limited Summer League minutes. And third overall pick and Blazers' guard Scoot Henderson's is as well due to a potential shoulder injury he suffered versus the Rockets on Friday.
