The past few North Carolina basketball seasons have been polarizing, to say the least.

After a darling March run and narrowly losing in the 2022 national championship to the top-ranked Kansas Jayhawks, UNC then turned around and posted a 20-13 record, missing out on the NCAA Tournament altogether last year.

But there’s little question the team’s current roster is one of the most talented its had in years, with the Tarheels set to roll out a gifted bunch that could include as many as three NBA draftees, all of which have taken drastically different paths to this point.

We’ll start with transfer Harrison Ingram, who was pegged as a potential 2023 draft riser last year with Stanford, but failed to show much improvement with the Cardinal.

At 6-foot-8, Ingram has do-it-all prowess, specializing in connectivity and versatile defense. In his sophomore season, he averaged 10.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and just shy of one steal per game while shooting 41 percent overall and 32 percent from beyond the arc.

While he didn’t make a big leap in year two, he’s undoubtedly still on NBA radars, and there’s always a chance he can continue to bolster his stock in Carolina blue.

Another potential draftee is Elliot Cadeau, a five-star point guard who’s in line to see plenty of run for the Tarheels this season. At 6-foot-1, he lacks strong professional size, but makes up for it with premier passing and playmaking ability, as well as high-IQ play.

Cadeau is pass-first by nature. And with a talented UNC squad could be looked at as one of the top point guard options in the class this season.

The final piece to the puzzle is Armando Bacot, who very well could be the best player on the roster this season.

At 6-foot-10, Bacot is a traditional-style forward who’s spent his entire career with the Tarheels. He’s been a vital part of their success to this point, and is undoubtedly one of the better players in college basketball.

Despite that, Bacot isn’t necessarily built for the NBA, but has tested the waters before and would likely be able to find a suitor somewhere, be it as a second round selection or undrafted free agent.
