Stock Watch: Marquette's Olivier-Maxence Prosper
The 2022-23 college season has been over for more than two months now, but that doesn't mean the prospects headed to the 2023 NBA Draft have had any time off. Since the season ended, these players have faced non-stop workouts to get in shape to prepare for interviews and private workouts with NBA teams. These opportunities, as well as pro days and the combine, are the most pivotal time of the cycle in terms of making an impression.
Whose stock has risen? What about fallen? This week, we look at the draft stock of Olivier-Maxence Prosper based on recent play.
Olivier-Maxence Prosper (Marquette | Forward)
Stock: (Rising/Falling)
Season Stats: 12.5 PPG | 4.7 RPG | 33.9% 3PT
After an impressive third collegiate season, Prosper is ready to take his talents to the NBA. While he earned himself a spot in the second-round conversation by the time Marquette's season ended, his stock has continued to rise in the pre-draft process.
At the NBA Combine in Chicago, he was one of the standout performers and measured well. From there, he looked fantastic in his pro day workout earlier this week.
Prosper flat out impacts winning, especially on the defensive end. He posted an 8.1 C-RAM according to Cerebro Sports, including a 72 DSI last season. Standing at 6-foot-8 with good athleticism, there's no question he will make an impact early in his NBA career on defense. The offense does need some work, but there's optimism on that front with improved perimeter shooting numbers and natural instinct as an offensive threat.
There's reason to believe that Prosper has untapped potential as a scorer, especially given he was somewhat limited at Marquette in that system. At the NBA level with more spacing and the potential to showcase more of his tools, he could very well end up being one of the more impactful players in this class.
Whether he's taken in the late part of the first round, or even early in the second, Prosper has done everything he could have possibly done during the pre-draft process to improve his stock.
