Utah Jazz: Keyonte George Continues Scorching Summer League
Keyonte George has continued to stand out among his peers at Summer League this year.
The No. 16 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft who hailed from Baylor, George not only had a strong Salt Lake City showing, but has now strung together two white-hot performances in Las Vegas.
On Saturday, he had what may have been the best rookie performance so far this year, posting 33 points on 12-for-24 shooting while tacking on 10 assists, two rebounds, and one steal and block apiece.
On Monday night, George yet again showed why he should’ve been a lottery selection. He scored a team-high 26 points on 9-for-15 shooting, dished out seven assists, grabbed three rebounds and nabbed two steals. He hit five of his 10 3-pointers and had a +25 plus-minus in the 12-point Jazz win over Minnesota.
George was regarded as a lottery selection for most of his season with Baylor, but a late-season injury derailed what was otherwise a really strong freshman season with the Bears. The Jazz however saw his potential, and debated taking him with their ninth overall pick before risking it and hoping the following teams would leave him til No. 16.
So far, it’s worked out well for Utah.
Now, George is healthy, in better shape and has NBA-esque spacing in tandem with his hyper-scoring skillset, and it’s paying dividends.
George and the Jazz next look to a bout with the Denver Nuggets at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, in Thomas & Mack Center.
