Victor Wembanyama is Highest Rated Rookie in NBA 2K History
Ahead of the game’s release in September, the overall 2K rating for Spurs center Victor Wembanyama has officially been released.
On top of his gaudy 7-foot-4 frame, Wembanyama will have an overall of 84, not only good for the highest rating in the class, but the highest rookie ratings in the game’s history. He beat out Pelicans’ forward Zion Williamson, who previously had the record with an 81.
Drafted No. 1 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, Wembanyama was the most heralded prospect since LeBron James in 2003. And for good reason.
With the Metropolitans 92 of the LNB Pro A league, Wembanyama most recently averaged 21.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and a league-most 3.0 blocks per game en route to a finals appearance.
In Summer League, Wembanyama saw both a hot and cold performance. In his final appearance, he poured on 27 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks with good efficiency.
Suffice to say, his associated rating is warranted.
Wembanyama himself seemed plenty pleased with his rating:
The full list of ratings has yet to be released.
Wembanyama and the Spurs will open up their preseason slate with a matchup against Chet Holmgren and the Oklahoma City Thunder at 7 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2023.
