WATCH: Breaking Down Alabama Forward Brandon Miller
With the NCAA postseason fast approaching, players are trying to hone their craft down the home stretch in hopes of raising their 2023 NBA Draft stock. And with French phenom Victor Wembanyama and G League Ignite star Scoot Henderson headlining, the race for the third spot is up for grabs.
One such player looking to do so is Alabama freshman Brandon Miller, who has divided the draft world with his far-ranging evaluations. Some draft experts have the forward as high as three, others as low as ten and beyond.
Draft Digest writer Derek Parker took a film dive into the divisive forward’s talents:
At a legitimate 6-foot-9, Miller has a bevy of attributes that NBA teams near the bottom of the standings, including the Rockets, Hornets, Spurs and Pistons, will be looking for.
While his play of late would prove he’s closer to the former, there’s still a varying degree of opinions surrounding the 20-year-old Crimson Tide freshman.
So far this season, Miller is averaging 18.8 points per game on 46 percent shooting overall and a blazing 43 percent from beyond the arc. At 6-foot-9, he's also tacking on 8.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks in 33 minutes per game.
Perhaps most importantly, he has Alabama sitting at No. 3 in the country, by far their highest ranking in years. And the Crimson Tide look every bit as lethal as their record, 22-3, would indicate.
