WATCH: Indiana's Jalen Hood-Schifino Could Be an NBA Lottery Talent
With the NCAA postseason fast approaching, players are trying to hone their craft down the home stretch in hopes of raising their 2023 NBA Draft stock. And with French phenom Victor Wembanyama and G League Ignite star Scoot Henderson headlining, the race for the third spot is up for grabs.
One such player looking to do so is Indiana guard Jalen Hood-Schifino, who is quickly rising up 2023 draft boards with solid play for the fourteenth-ranked Indiana Hoosiers.
Draft Digest writer Derek Parker took a film dive into the jumbo point guard’s talents:
At 6-foot-6, Hood-Schifino has legitimate two-way skills that could get him looks in the 2023 NBA Draft lottery. He uses his positional size to his advantage and was regarded as one of the better guard defenders in the 2022 high school class.
There are a few improvement points for Hood-Schifino, namely cutting down on turnovers and improving on his consistency and efficiency on offense, but the foundation of a lead NBA guard is there.
So far, Hood-Schifino is averaging 12.6 points, 4.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 23 games this season. He’s shooting just shy of 42 percent overall and 38.5 percent from beyond the arc.
It will be a tall task for the frosh to work his way into the 2023 lottery with several high-profile names making their case across the country. But with a strong late-season and postseason push, he could weave his way in.
