Prospect Profile

Over the course of an incredible productive five college seasons, Davis generated the second-most points in NCAA Division I history. He averaged 25.4 points per game over the course of his career, including 28.2 last season.

He’s been one of the best in the country for a while in terms of self-creation. Davis is a tough shot maker, but sometimes does take bad looks because of it. He’s best off the bounce, leveraging a variety of dribble moves including a lethal crossover. The Detroit Mercy prospect does most of his damage on jumpers, both in the midrange and from beyond the arc, but doesn’t often get to the rim due to his size.

He’s great in pick-and-roll scenarios and other actions with the ball in his hands and boasts elite range. Davis is a fantastic free throw shooter and has always proven to have good 3-point splits.

At the next level, it’s hard to really picture how his game would translate. He took 22 shots per game last season, which likely would never be the case in the NBA. While he could be an incredible G League player, Davis will need to put together a more well-rounded game and find ways to contribute to winning without scoring the ball. Regardless, he could easily emerge as a bench bucket.

With that in mind, he did average better that four assists per game in college. While he’s not known as a guy with great vision or a ton of facilitation upside, the gravity he draws often leaves his teammates wide open and he finds them.

Davis will need to get much better defensively if he’s ever going to get consistent minutes at a higher level. He lacks height and strength to be effective on that end of the floor as of now and often didn’t give as much effort as you would like to see.

He had a great start to the pre-draft process and shot the ball well at G League Elite Camp. From here, it’s all about what he can do in front of teams in individual workouts.
