Prospect Profile

Although he’s the size of a big at 6-foot-10, Valerio-Bodon is a pure wing that plays with a combination of positional size, length, shooting, and fluidity. He has spent the last several years in Hungarian NBIA and has has shown consistent development. He possesses intriguing tools and strong frame for a wing. The 22-year-old has developed physically quite a bit in recent years and now uses his body and broad shoulders well on both ends. Even then, theres's still a ton of runway on that front as he’s never truly lifted weights or been a part of a strength program, and could support another 15 pounds on his frame which would only enhance his game in nearly every aspect. He has long arms and legs and is able to cover a ton of ground.

Valerio-Bodon cleans the glass well and can also grab and go. That’s a highly translatable skill set at the NBA level. More holistically in transition, he uses his acceleration to become a threat on the break and can finish with power, especially as a lob threat.

Offensively, the Hungarian prospect is definitely more of an off-ball player. With that in mind, he has secondary creation upside and can make things happen with the ball in his hands. He recently had a game in which his passing chops were on full display as he generated six assists. He grew up playing point guard before having a significant growth spurt, and the guard skills still shine through today. With that in mind, Valerio-Bodon will need to improve handle a bit to thrive at next level. He takes long strides as a driver that allows him to get by defenders without being lightning quick, but can sometimes get knocked off his track when being defended by someone more physical.

Again, Valerio-Bodon is primarily a perimeter threat offensively. He has a quick release on his jump shot and is more than just a catch-and-shoot guy. He can make jumpers in rhythm, but also on the move. He shoots a quick, consistent jumper with minimal movement and a high release point. He’s also a good cutter and has solid touch near basket, but is definitely more perimeter oriented player. We would like to see him put pressure on rim more often and get to free throw line at a higher rate, especially since he's an elite shooter from the line for his size.

On the defensive end, Valerio-Bodon is pretty versatile with his length and mobility. He’s overall disruptive and seems to have a high IQ when evaluating his rotations within a scheme.

Valerio-Bodon is a clear top 100 player in this class. He’s scheduled to have 10 workouts in the pre-draft process, including a second with one team. Whether he’s a drafted or not on June 22, he has the upside to make an impact at the next level. Valerio-Bodon would be a good draft-and-stash investment or G League project in the second round or as a high quality undrafted free agent.
