Prospect Profile

An undersized guard who plays at Oregon, Shelstad is a dynamic playmaker and scorer. He still has a lot to prove as it relates to his game translating to the NBA level, but he has a good baseline skillset.

Shelstad is a good decision-maker with the ball in his hands and his scoring is most effective when he’s shooting jumpers. He has room to improve in getting to the rim and finishing, but still has three-level scoring upside. He’s ultra-quick and has a good change of pace.

It wouldn’t be surprising for him to be a bench spark plug at the NBA level one day. Shelstad will likely need to improve as a lead guard and passer to find more ways to get on the court at the next level. Oftentimes, scoring isn’t what gets players on the court early in their NBA career, especially for a player of his size. Shelstad is tough, a winner and someone who always gives maximum effort

Shelstad is pesky defensively and can make things happen at times. Even then, he will be limited due to his height in the NBA to just guarding one or two positions. He is built well physically, which helps him combat the lack of height on that end. The Oregon guard is not a great rebounder and struggles to navigate screens as a defender sometimes, which are things he will need to improve upon this season.

There’s no question Shelstad is worth a flyer pick in the second round of the draft. The former four-star recruit will have good collegiate experience heading to the next level and is known for being an incredibly hard worker. Of anyone who has the chance to be taken late in the 2025 NBA Draft, he will have as good of a chance as any to carve out a role in the NBA.
