Former Memphis Grizzlies Player Makes Ja Morant Statement
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has played just nine games this season. Beginning the year with a 25-game suspension due to his gun video incidents last season, Morant was already set to miss a chunk of games. After returning from his suspension, Morant played just nine games before being sidelined for the remainder of the year with a shoulder injury.
This season-ending injury to Morant, along with all of the other injuries Memphis has dealt with this season, has the Grizzlies well out of the playoff picture as the regular season winds down. This has been a disappointing and frustrating year for Memphis, but there is optimism around the team that they can return to form as soon as next year.
The Grizzlies re-entering the playoff picture next season will be largely dependent on Morant becoming a mainstay in their starting lineup again. Having seemingly put his off-court issues behind him, Morant looks primed for a big return next season.
This is what former Grizzlies guard Gilbert Arenas said recently on the Nightcap show with Shannon Sharpe, saying, “The fact that he’s stayed out of the limelight, he’s getting healthy - for the most part, his troubles was his cellphone. The fact that he’s laid low, I think everybody just can’t wait till next year with him. I think this summer is gonna be a real rebranding for him.”
Next year should be a fun one for Morant and the Grizzlies after this tough season they endured.
