Memphis Grizzlies Reveal Major Disappointing Derrick Rose Injury Update
Memphis Grizzlies guard Derrick Rose has played just 24 games this season, and that may be all he plays. It was recently reported by Damichal Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal that Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said Rose may be out for the rest of the season.
"They’re doing well,” Jenkins said of Rose and Ziaire Williams, per Cole. “Most likely they’re not going to be coming back by the end of the season. We’re just kind of taking it day to day.”
Jenkins added per Cole, "We’re having tons of dialogue with them individually and also with the medical team. I wouldn’t say we’re pivoting to an offseason program. We’re just making sure they’re healthy with what they’re navigating. These guys have been fully invested, still working to whatever degree they can.”
This is very disappointing news, as Rose has worked hard to get back on the court, but it seems there will not be enough time left in the season for him to make a return. While Rose has not been on the court much at all for Memphis this season, he has been a solid locker room presence for this Grizzlies group that has had a lot of young players get opportunities.
Rose is under contract with the Grizzlies for $3.4M next season, but will hit free agency after that.
