Memphis Grizzlies Rookie Reveals Trash Talk From Victor Wembanyama
The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night, and star rookie Victor Wembanyama was fantastic again. Finishing with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 7 blocks, Wembanyama did it all for the Spurs.
Speaking with reporters after the game, Grizzlies rookie GG Jackson shared a hilarious recollection of Wembanyama's trash talk from earlier in the season, saying, "He's so high in the air. When he talks trash, he sounds like he's whispering. He was like, 'Go back up. Go. Go. You scared. You scared. You scared.'”
Jackson has been one of the best rookies in the NBA this season, averaging 13.4 PPG as the youngest player in the league. Getting an increased opportunity this season with all of the injuries the Grizzlies have dealt with, Jackson has proven his ability to be a solid rotation pieces, and will likely continue to get consistent minutes next season even when the Grizzlies are fully healthy.
Jackson and Wembanyama will face off with each other for years to come, and their matchups should be fun to watch. According to Jackson, Wembanyama talks some trash, but it sounds like he is whispering because he is so high up.
At 6'9", Jackson does not look up at many opponents, but the 7'4" Wembanyama is a different story for the Grizzlies rookie.
