Austin Reaves Gets Honest About Memphis Grizzlies Fans
During a recent appearance on the Full Send Podcast, Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves was asked who the toughest road fanbase is. His first answer: Memphis Grizzlies fans.
"Memphis is rough," Reaves said. "They rock with their guys."
While the Grizzlies as a team were one of the most vocal groups last season, it sounds like their fanbase is also one of the loudest in the NBA. This is a very good compliment for a fanbase to receive, as a loud home crowd can really help create a significant home court advantage.
When looking at the Grizzlies' home vs. road splits, perhaps it's no coincidence that they were the best home team in basketball last season. 35-6 at home last year, the Grizzlies went just 16-25 on the road. That home record was the best in basketball, but their road record was on par with some of the worst teams in the league.
As previously mentioned, a strong home crowd can really make a significant impact. For Reaves, who faced the Grizzles in the playoffs, he believes their home crowd is one of the toughest in the entire NBA. This is high praise for the fans in Memphis, and they will certainly look to keep this up next season as their team fights to contend in the Western Conference.
