Grizzlies Star Gets Honest About Luka Doncic

Jaren Jackson Jr. opened up about being in Luka Doncic's draft class

Luka Doncic is a once-in-a-generation type of player. When he was coming up in the NBA Draft, people expected him to be good, but no one expected him to be as good as he is - including Jaren Jackson Jr.

When Jaren was a guest on the Podcast P show with Paul George, he revealed what it was like being in the same draft class as Luka Doncic and what the expectations were of the phenom.

“Surprised? It's tough in my class," Jaren said. "It was tough. I mean, there weren't a lot of shocking surprises. I mean, maybe Luka, but we didn't see him. He never saw his game. We just saw him walk on the draft bus for the first time. Who is this dude? He winked at everybody down the line. I was like, oh my God, it's either he's about to go and destroy or? No one saw him [in New York].. He was like a myth. Everyone's talking about who's about to come and destroy the world and we haven't seen him. We've only known each other since we were six."

To Jackson's credit, what he's saying is a really accurate representation of what Luka was during the draft. He was this mythical European player that you only really heard of from other European players or knew about if you followed the Euroleague. He didn't have the nonstop coverage of a Victor Wembanyama, but he still had expectations of being great.

We've yet to see a playoff series between Luka Doncic and the young Memphis Grizzlies, but one thing is for sure, it would be an incredibly exciting one.
