Ja Morant's Signature Shoe Postposed by Nike
Initially set to release on April 1st, Ja Morant's signature Nike basketball shoe has been postponed until April 19th. The Ja 1, which has been previewed on the court by Morant, will be available for purchase in just over two weeks.
It is unclear exactly why the release of Morant's first signature Nike shoe was postponed, but Nike did release a statement on Morant when the star point guard was seen flashing a gun during an Instagram live video. Shortly after the video went viral, Nike released a statement that read, "We appreciate Ja’s accountability and that he is taking the time to get the help he needs. We support his prioritization of his well-being."
The delayed shoe release does not seem to be related to that situation with Morant, as it has already been resolved, and the star guard has returned to the court. It is not incredibly uncommon for release dates to be changed for several different reasons, and fans will have to wait just a couple more weeks for Morant's first signature shoe to become available for purchase.
With just four regular season games remaining on the schedule for Memphis, the team will face the Trail Blazers, Pelicans, Bucks, and Thunder before entering postseason play. Close to a lock for the second seed, the Grizzlies will face whatever team comes out of the play-in tournament first. As of right now, it looks as if Morant's signature Nike shoe will release during the first round of the playoffs.
