Recently speaking with The Memphis Commercial Appeal, Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum was asked about Marcus Smart being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. On Smart joining Memphis, Tatum said, "He's gonna love it, and the fans are gonna love him, the city is gonna love him. Sad to see him go, but happy for him to get a new start and excited to see what he does."

On what the Grizzlies are getting in Smart, Tatum said, "They're getting a leader. They're getting a guy who's a winner, who's been to the playoffs every year. We've been to the Finals together obviously, so he knows what it takes to get there. Obviously extremely talented, the best defender in the league. He's just a guy that you love to have on your team."

There is obviously a strong bond with Smart and has former Celtics teammates. Smart was in many ways the heart and soul of that Celtics team, and the city of Boston will certainly miss him. While the Celtics are happy with the trade they were able to make, losing Smart is something that will be tough for everyone.

For the Grizzlies, they are excited to add Smart's leadership and veteran experience. Those are two areas the Grizzlies were lacking in last season, and when factoring in Smart's defensive prowess, this should be a huge addition for the Grizzlies.
