Knicks Player Reacts to Viral Grizzlies Story
Steven Adams is one of the most lovable guys in the NBA; anyone who knows him can easily attest to some fantastic stories about him. Hearing this story from his draft night will likely make you fall in love with him too - it worked on Josh Hart.
A few years ago, Steven Adams was a guest on JJ Redick's Old Man and the Three podcast where he revealed a hilarious story about his draft night experience. Some years later, the story has gone viral again and caught the eye of NBA players like Josh Hart.
"I didn't have NBA dreams or anything like that," Adams said. "I was just playing basketball and some dude offered me a scholarship on JV Dixon and I was like, 'aw sweet! This will be great.' So, I rocked over there, for me that was like the hype, the peak of the hype."
Adams hilariously had no expectations of making the NBA at all. He only averaged 6 points and 6 rebounds in college and was told by Rick Carlisle that he wasn't good enough to be in the NBA.
“Threw my name in the NBA draft - averaged 6 and 6 - and yeah, went number 12 bro, it was cool," Adams joked. "I was just there for the ride. I had no expectations of even making the NBA."
As fate turned out, Adams is actually one of the most important role-playing big men in the NBA. The lesson is, never to judge a player too early in their career.
