Luke Kennard Makes History in Grizzlies vs. Rockets Game
Entering the night as the NBA's leader in three-point percentage, Memphis Grizzlies sniper Luke Kennard created some more separation between himself and the next closest player on that list. Drilling a career-high 10 threes on just 11 attempts, Kennard set a Grizzlies franchise record for made threes in a game.
The Grizzlies franchise record is not the only bit of history Kennard made in this game, as he joined Klay Thompson and Ty Lawson as the only players in NBA history with 10 threes on 90% or better from deep. Turning in this performance in just 24 minutes of play, Kennard became the first player in NBA history with at least 10 threes in less than 25 minutes played.
This was a truly special performance from Kennard, who showed the NBA world why Memphis was so excited about acquiring him from the LA Clippers at the trade deadline. Having led the NBA in three-point percentage last season, Kennard has a chance to become the first player since Kyle Korver to lead the NBA in three-point percentage in consecutive seasons.
Adding a new element to a Grizzlies team that was lacking three-point shooting, Kennard is a special shooter that is beginning to fit in perfectly with his new team. Kennard's performance against the Rockets had the entire building on their feet, as it was a special moment for the newest Memphis Grizzlies player.
