Major Trade Idea Between Grizzlies and Pistons
In a recent article from Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley, several hypothetical trade ideas were proposed for the NBA's likeliest buyers and sellers this season. Of the trade ideas proposed, one was between the Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons:
Memphis Grizzlies get: Bojan Bogdanovic
Detroit Pistons get: Brandon Clarke, Ziaire Williams and 2026 first-round pick (top-five protected)
In this trade idea from Bleacher Report, the Grizzlies get their starting small forward, while the Pistons get another young player and future draft pick. Bogdanovic has seen his name in trade discussions for about a year now, as the productive veteran seems to better fit the timeline of several contenders than his current team in Detroit.
While the Pistons project to be better next season, they are still likely a year or two away from seriously making a push in the Eastern Conference, which could compel them to sell high on Bogdanovic in an attempt to bolster their already impressive collection of youth.
For the Grizzlies, the justification for this deal is obvious. Still yet to acquire a starting-level small forward after the departure of Dillon Brooks, Memphis could definitely use an upgrade at that position. While they have some versatile guards who can play up, the Grizzlies would benefit from adding a more traditional starting small forward next to their trio of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane.
