Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kyle Anderson recently announced that he had obtained Chinese citizenship and would play for China in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. It was a big announcement for Anderson, who shared his excitement to join Team China, and the versatile forward received some support from his former Memphis Grizzlies teammate Desmond Bane:

Bane shared his reaction to the news on Twitter shortly after it was announced by the official FIBA Basketball World Cup account. Anderson will be a great addition for China, as he can provide a lot of versatility out of either forward spot, just like he did during his time with the Grizzlies.

Appearing in 248 games with the Grizzlies from 2018-2022, Anderson averaged 8.5 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and 2.9 APG in 24.1 minutes per contest. Averaging a career-high 12.4 PPG for Memphis in 2021, Anderson was a key piece to that playoff team, starting all 69 games he played in.

Anderson has some playoff experience as well, having played 51 postseason games in his career, dating back to his time with the San Antonio Spurs. Also a savvy defender, Anderson can impact the game on both ends, and will look to do just that for China in the World Cup this summer.

While Anderson is no longer on the Grizzlies, he clearly still has love and support from his former teammates, and that was shown by Bane's reaction to his big news.
