New Details of Ja Morant's Violent Incident Revealed
After initially breaking the story of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant's violent incident with a 17 year old this past summer, The Washington Post has revealed additional details in a recent article.
On the incident that resulted in Morant punching a 17 year old boy, The Washington Post revealed that detectives assigned to the case did not interview Morant until six weeks after the incident occurred, and did not interview any witnesses at all:
"Instead, not a word was reported about the case in the media for half a year," Gus Garcia-Roberts and Molly Hensley-Clancy of The Washington Post wrote. "The detectives assigned to the case handled it gingerly: It was six weeks before they interviewed Morant about punching Holloway, records show, and even then they avoided asking Morant key questions. By October, prosecutors had quietly shelved the case. They cited a lack of evidence following an investigation during which police did not indicate they interviewed a single witness about the teenager’s allegation, and hadn’t identified Morant’s best friend who also allegedly punched Holloway."
The Post also reported additional details from Morant's shoe store incident, contacting the employee who was involved. The employee claimed to have spent nearly an hour in the store, "shaking" at times with emotion while Morant and eight or nine others shouted through the door.
"Busby, the shoe salesman, said he spent nearly an hour in the storeroom, at times 'shaking' with emotion, as Morant, who arrived at the sneaker store with eight or nine others, shouted through the door, threatening that he would wait for him to come out," The Post reported.
It is important to note that during his recent interview with ESPN, Morant said most of what has been reported about him in relation to incidents outside of the gun video are a lie:
"The majority of the things that's happened in the past, obviously, I kind of put myself into by even being there," Morant told ESPN. "But all the incidents you've seen recently, most of them is a lie. I can't speak too much on those situations because all of 'em are sealed. I really can't wait to be able to finally tell the truth. But what I can say is, like I said before, none of those are my character. I'm a big family guy. I always care for my family. So it was just me checking on my family's safety. Once my family is safe, I left the scene."
While The Washington Post has revealed additional details about Morant's violent incident with the 17 year old and his additional incident at the shoe store, the Grizzlies star is already on the record saying much of the reporting surrounding these situations is inaccurate and untruthful. As he told ESPN, Morant is looking forward to finally telling the truth about everything.
