There is a popular account on Twitter (@theNBAalert) that tracks the social media activity of NBA figures. It's unclear exactly how the account operates, but it reports when different NBA players, coaches, executives, and others unfollow or follow somebody new. While it's mostly pointless information, the account has accumulated a sizable following, which can lead to some of their reports going viral.

One of the most recent Tweets from this account to go viral was their report that Memphis Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr. had unfollowed his teammate Ja Morant. The post has already accumulated over 1M views, and has been spreading like crazy.

While this is the type of development that some people find interesting, especially at this point in the NBA offseason, this particular report is very misleading. Following just three accounts on Twitter (the Grizzlies, his alternate account, and rapper Ken Carson), Jackson did not recently decide to unfollow Ja Morant like this account suggested.

Jackson may have been following Morant at some point, but it's been a while that his Twitter page has been following just the three aforementioned accounts. While content can run dry in the offseason, this is a non story that has gathered way too much traction on Twitter. Social media activity can be worth reading into at times in this day and age, but this is certainly not one of those situations.
