During a recent episode of Hot Ones, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry spoke on the impact his college career made on his NBA success. While speaking about attending Davidson, Curry mentioned both Ja Morant and Damian Lillard as players who attended mid-major schools and went on to become NBA stars.

"It's kind of a message of go where the best fit is for you," Curry said. "As much as you might want to have the pedigree or the resume to say, 'I played in the ACC, I played in a power conference.' That's all cool, but myself, Damian Lillard, Ja Morant, guys who went to mid-major colleges, they'll find you wherever you’re at. I had faith at the time, I didn't know how it would pan out. I wouldn't change that experience for anything."

Selected second-overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019, Morant attending Murray State over bigger name schools was certainly not something that held him back. As Curry sees it, certain players can get much more out of attending mid-major colleges than they would by attending bigger schools. It's something that worked out great for him, and also worked out great for Morant.

The landscape has certainly changed when it comes to top high school players picking their next step before the NBA, and Curry's path has helped pave the way for others.
