Steph Curry Names Lakers and Grizzlies Legends on Surprising List

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry respects these Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies legends

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry was recently asked for the toughest defenders he has faced, and his answer was Tony Allen, Jrue Holiday, and Ron Artest. It was a surprising list, because while Memphis Grizzlies legend Tony Allen appears on almost every single one of these lists, as does Holiday, hearing a guard like Curry mention a forward like Artest was unexpected.

When speaking about Artest, Curry said, "I didn't get to play too many games against him, but he had the strongest hands you've ever seen in your life. If you put the ball around him, he would smack it right out of your hand."

Artest, who began going by Metta World Peace in 2011, and now goes by Metta Sandiford-Artest, won a championship with Los Angeles Lakers in 2010. Winning Defensive Player of the Year in 2004, and also making four All-Defensive teams, Artest was undoubtedly a dominant defender. Curry mentioning him on this list was only surprising because of the position he played as a 6'7" forward, as both Allen and Holiday are guards.

There aren't many defenders who can give Curry trouble, but he certainly has respect for those who can. Even those with the ability to slow Curry down are unable to stop him entirely, but he recently showed respect to Grizzlies legend Tony Allen, Lakers champion Ron Artest, and Milwaukee Bucks champion Jrue Holiday.
