Updated Injury Report: Grizzlies vs. Pelicans
On the last half of a back-to-back, the Memphis Grizzlies have officially ruled Ja Morant out for Wednesday night's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Grizzlies control their own destiny to finish top-two in the Western Conference, and feel they can afford to be cautious with players like Morant as they close out the regular season.
Also initially listed as doubtful, sharpshooting guard Luke Kennard has been ruled out for Memphis as well. Kennard had 20 points in the win over Portland on Tuesday, and is getting the night off in this one. Kennard currently leads the league in three-point percentage, and is on pace to become the first player since Kyle Korver to lead the league in consecutive seasons.
Initially listed as questionable, Xavier Tillman has also been ruled out for Memphis. Tillman sat the last half of Tuesday night's game, and will miss the entirety of Wednesday night against the Pelicans.
All ruled out in advance, Steven Adams, Brandon Clarke, Jake LaRavia, and Ziaire Williams remain out for the Grizzlies in this game. Still with Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Dillon Brooks available, the Grizzlies have enough talent to get a win vs. the Pelicans.
As previously mentioned, the Grizzlies are close to locking up the two-seed, and have done nicely to create two games of separation between themselves and the Sacramento Kings. Comfortable sitting Morant, Kennard, and Tillman, the Grizzlies will go to battle shorthanded against the Pelicans in this one.
