WATCH: Anthony Edwards Trash Talks Grizzlies Star
Team USA's FIBA World Cup roster is loaded with talent, and includes two of the NBA's most exciting young stars in Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Jaren Jackson Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies. The two young stars are both pivotal pieces to their respective NBA teams, and project to be leaders during this World Cup run.
During a recent Team USA scrimmage, Edwards threw down a dunk with Jackson under the basket, and told him to contest it because he's Defensive Player of the Year:
It was some great trash talk from Edwards, who wanted the challenge of Jackson contesting him at the rim. This is of course friendly banter between two teammates and friends, as Jackson and Edwards were opponents for this scrimmage, but will be teammates when the real games begin.
As previously mentioned, Jackson and Edwards project to be two of the most important players on Team USA. Jackson's defensive presence should serve as a dominant anchor on that side of the ball, while Edwards' explosiveness on offensive should be dominant on the other end. Focused on winning gold, Team USA knows they will have to go through some talented teams to make that happen.
The Grizzlies and the Timberwolves faced each other in the first round of the 2022 playoffs, with Memphis defeating Minnesota in six games.
