WATCH: Ja Morant's Friend Appears in Court After Arrest
Davonte Pack, Ja Morant's close friend who was arrested in relation to an alleged altercation that occurred at the Memphis Grizzlies star's home, appeared in court for the first time since being arrested. Footage from Pack's court appearance was captured by WREG News Channel 3, and uploaded to YouTube:
In this video, a reporter from the network summarized some of the details from the case, stating the following:
"[Pack] is charged with a misdemeanor assault charge for allegedly assaulting a teen at Ja Morant's home nearly one year ago. It's a case that's been developing in the legal system for months. According to an affidavit, Pack, who is known as Morant's best friend, assaulted Joshua Holloway, who was 17 at the time of the incident, during a pickup game at the NBA player's home. Reports say Holloway passed a ball, which ended up striking Morant in the face. Witnesses say Morant punched Holloway. After Morant's hit, Shelby County deputies say Holloway was struck several times by an unidentified third party... Davonte Pack was later identified as the suspect."
This report included the important note that Morant was not criminally charged for the incident, but Holloway did sue him in civil court, which Morant's team countered by suing Holloway for slander, battery, and assault. This story has been ongoing for months, and will likely receive additional updates.
