Atlanta Hawks at Boston Celtics Game One Preview
Preview
The Atlanta Hawks proved the naysayers wrong when they upset the Miami Heat in the NBA Play-In Tournament. For their win, Atlanta is rewarded with the 7-seed and a matchup against the 2-seed Boston Celtics.
It is not the ideal matchup for Atlanta. Celtics' wings Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have put together All-NBA caliber seasons and look to build on their NBA Finals trip last season.
Meanwhile, Atlanta underperformed throughout the regular season, resulting in a new front office and head coach installed midseason. The front office acquired Saddiq Bey via trade, and Quin Snyder has revamped the offense - both changes have revitalized the floundering team.
The experts at FiveThirtyEight give Atlanta just a 13% chance of winning the seven-game series, and even that feels generous. But if there is one thing the Play-In Tournament taught us, it is that Atlanta embraces the role of underdogs and always keeps their receipts.
Injury Report
Boston's injury report lists Danilo Gallinari (knee) as out. Atlanta does not have any injuries to report at this time.
