Atlanta Hawks at Los Angeles Lakers Preview
Preview
One week ago tonight, LeBron James celebrated his 38th birthday with a 47-point performance against the Atlanta Hawks. The Los Angeles Lakers took the game and are riding a three-game winning streak into tonight's rematch in Tinsel Town.
While Los Angeles appears to be righting the ship (against all odds), Atlanta is still stuck in neutral. Their win against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night snapped a four-game losing streak, but the team is still clearly flawed.
Similar to Los Angeles, Atlanta is near the bottom of the league in net rating and all outside shooting metrics. For a team that espoused championship aspirations before the season, Atlanta is nowhere near contention as currently constructed.
A roster shakeup at the trade deadline is almost a guarantee for Atlanta at this point. From now until February 9, some players will be making their case to stay on the roster. Tonight serves as a valuable opportunity for many of Atlanta's role players.
Injury Report
Los Angeles' injury report lists LeBron James (left ankle soreness) as probable. Troy Brown Jr. (quad) and Damian Jones (toe) are questionable. Additionally, Anthony Davis (foot), Austin Reeves (hamstring), and Lonnie Walker IV (knee) are out.
Atlanta's injury report lists Clint Capela (right calf strain) as out.
