Atlanta Hawks Beat Boston Celtics 130-122
Summary
The old saying goes, it's not a series until the road team wins a game. If that's the case, the first-round battle between the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics is yet to begin. Atlanta defeated Boston 130-122 to narrow the series to 2-1.
With their back against the wall, Atlanta came out firing. Bogdan Bogdanovic was 6-6 (3-3 3PT) in the first half to give Atlanta a seven-point advantage at halftime. After the break, Trae Young took over. Young scored 22 of his 32 points in the second half.
In addition to dominating the glass (48-29), Atlanta also outshot Boston from the field, foul line, and the arc. But the game was not as easy as the statistics may indicate. Boston made several runs at Atlanta late in the game.
Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 29 points, and Marcus Smart provided 24 points. However, Jaylen Brown and Derrick White were unable to replicate their performances from the first two games of the series.
Atlanta has avoided an embarrassing sweep, and now they look to even the series in Game 4 at State Farm Arena on Sunday night. Hopefully, the Hawks will be able to delay the unofficial start of the series by a few more days.
