Summary

On Friday night, a sellout crowd in State Farm Arena was excited to see Damian Lillard (and Cam Reddish) make a rare trip to the Peach State. Much to the home fans' delight, the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 129-111.

Atlanta jumped out to an early lead and maintained control of the game for 48 minutes. Dejounte Murray was red hot, hitting 17-22 (77.3%) for a career-high 41 points. Trae Young chipped in 23 points and 11 assists.

As a team, Atlanta shot 57.1% from the field and 46.2% from deep. Even better, they won the battle of the boards and turnovers. Lillard led Portland with 33 points, while Reddish provided 25 points as a starter for the short-handed squad.

After the game, Murray said, "We had two back-to-back hard *** practices. I think that's translating over to the game." Hawks head coach Quin Snyder echoed the sentiment, saying his team's hot starts "shows the mentality these guys want to have."

Atlanta improves to 32-31, while Portland falls to 29-34 on the season. On Saturday afternoon, the Hawks will fly to South Beach for a pivotal two-game road stand against the Miami Heat.
