Summary

Following Dejounte Murray's suspension, Game 5 of the first-round playoff series between the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks felt like a formality. But that's why you play the game. Atlanta beat Boston 119-117 to stave off elimination.

After playing second or third fiddle for most of the series, Jaylen Brown poured in 35 points. However, Jayson Tatum and the rest of the Celtics struggled on offense, only hitting 30.8% of their three-point attempts.

Without his sidekick, Trae Young led Atlanta with an impressive 38 points and 13 assists. After being called for a blocking foul which resulted in Boston taking the lead with seven seconds left, Young answered with a 30-feet game-winning three-pointer.

After a difficult season with plenty of ups and downs, Young reminded his doubters that he is one of the best players in the NBA. Atlanta hosts Boston for Game 6 in Atlanta on Thursday night.
