Atlanta Hawks vs Detroit Pistons: Start time, where to watch, betting odds
The NBA's In-Season Tournament started a couple of weeks ago, but tonight will be the first game that the Hawks have played. They will be back on the road for a matchup with Detroit and the Hawks will be looking to bounce back from a loss to the Miami Heat. Since being on a four-game winning streak, Atlanta has lost two of its past three games.
The injury reports are both interesting.
Star point guard Trae Young (personal reasons) was a new addition to the injury report yesterday and was listed as questionable. The others that were listed on the injury report were rookie guard Kobe Bufkin and forward Mouhamed Gueye.
Young posted on social media that he welcomed the birth of his second child yesterday.
Sunday, the Hawks provided an update on the injury status of both Bufkin and Gueye:
"Guard Kobe Bufkin underwent an X-ray and medical review yesterday on his left thumb, which he fractured on Nov. 2. He will continue to be reviewed weekly and his rehabilitation will progress based on his healing. His return to play timeline is 8-to-10 weeks from the date of injury.
Forward Mouhamed Gueye, who has missed the last two games with a right lower back strain, underwent an MRI yesterday at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex. The MRI revealed a right low back stress fracture. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks and his status will be updated as appropriate."
Jalen Duren, Bojan Bogdanovic, Joe Harris, Monte Morris, and Isaiah Livers are all going to be out. Duren is unquestionably the biggest loss for the Pistons in this game as he is off to a great start to the year and is their leading rebounder, averaging 10.6 rebounds per game.
Whether Young plays or not, this is a game that Atlanta needs to win. If they want to be a top-four seed and get homecourt advantage in the playoffs, they can't afford to lose many games like this.
