Preview

Over the past few years, games between the Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks have been battles. That could be the case again this afternoon, but the matchup will feature a lot less star power.

Since the two teams last met on December 28, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant forced their way out of Brooklyn. Meanwhile, Atlanta has undergone a coaching change to match their front office overhaul.

Despite Irving and Durant's anti-climatic end to their time in Brooklyn, they left the rebuilding team in a good position. Brooklyn ranks fifth in the Eastern Conference and leads the season series against Atlanta 2-0.

A win today and March 31 would go a long way for Atlanta's late-season playoff push. Trae Young is shooting the ball better, and Quin Snyder is waiting in the wings to get the head coaching gig officially. Now is the time for Atlanta to make up ground in the Eastern Conference.

Injury Report

Brooklyn's injury report lists Ben Simmons (knee) as out. Atlanta's injury report lists John Collins (low back tightness) as questionable.
