Former Atlanta Hawk John Collins is Reportedly Back on The Trade Block
Former Hawks forward John Collins always seemed to be a part of trade rumors in his time in Atlanta and even after being traded to the Utah Jazz, the trade rumors have found Collins again.
According to Andy Larson of the Salt Lake Tribune, Collins is back on the trade block:
Perhaps the biggest surprise on the trade block is new power forward acquisition John Collins, the source said. The 26-year-old has the lowest on-court/off-court splits of any rotation player on the team, and the team has been frustrated with his slow uptake on learning the Jazz’s system on both ends of the floor. Collins has been a solid shooter and rebounder this season, but hasn’t contributed as much elsewhere.
Collins is having a solid season with the Jazz, but it does not seem that the salary he is making is matching the kind of production you would expect. For his career, Collins is averaging 15.8 PPG and 8.0 RPG. He is shooting 38% from three this season after having a down year in that category.
Even after they have moved on from Collins, the Hawks still find themselves in plenty of trade rumors.
Michael Pina, an analyst at The Ringer, discussed five hypothetical deals to kick off trade season, and sure enough, a hypothetical trade to send Pascal Siakam to the Hawks was discussed.
Pina had the Hawks sending Bogdan Bogdanovic and De'Andre Hunter to Toronto in exchange for Siakam. Here is what Pina had to say about the hypothetical trade:
"Atlanta is a wandering basketball team, helped and hindered by its franchise point guard. Will Siakam cure what ails the Hawks? Probably not. But if they can add someone this talented for Hunter and Bogdanovic, might as well go for it. The haul seems low, but how much can Toronto really get for an expensive soon-to-be 30-year-old who isn’t very malleable and is about to become an unrestricted free agent?"
Keep an eye out for future trade rumors.
